On Thursday, Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil accomplished an impressive feat by successfully passing seven bills out of the Senate Appropriations Committee, chaired by Senator Anthony Portantino of Burbank.




Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil announced today the investment of over $52 million in funding for critical projects and initiatives in many of the counties that comprise Senate District 4.




State Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil sponsored Frog Jumpers from around the State to jump at the State Capitol yesterday. The Senator was joined by fellow lawmakers, members of the media, and staffers from the Assembly and State Senate.




Senator Alvarado-Gil has helped to secure $29 million through CAL FIRE for several wildfire-related projects throughout Senate District 4. These investments will help regions devastated by wildfires in the past and support various initiatives toward wildfire prevention.




Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil (SD-4) took a significant step toward disrupting organized crime in the illicit fentanyl trade, enhancing penalties concerning fentanyl. On a 5 to 0 vote, the Senate Public Safety Committee passed SB 226, making it a felony to possess fentanyl while carrying a loaded, operable firearm.




Senate Bill 488, introduced by Senator Alvarado-Gil, would expand the Bioenergy Renewable Auction Mechanism (BioRAM) program to community choice aggregation (CCA) organizations. CCAs are local non-profit programs that allow communities to purchase electricity on behalf of residents and businesses in place of investor-owned utilities such as Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E).

The bill restores a prior ratemaking and rate design methodology by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to, ensure that funding for small rural telephone companies continues to cover their cost of service and infrastructure




Senator Alvarado-Gil was recently appointed to the Select Committee on California’s Wine Industry. With 11 of the 13 counties she represents producing commercial wines, the appointment was a natural fit.
