Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil and Supervisor Channce Condit Celebrate Infrastructure Investment in South Modesto

Alvarado-Gil Delivers for Senate District 4

[Modesto, CA] – California State Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil, accompanied by Stanislaus County Supervisor Channce Condit, completed a comprehensive tour of an economically disadvantaged region of South Modesto which will benefit from a $5 million state budget allocation in crucial infrastructure funding for the area.

The funding request, spearheaded by Supervisor Condit, received overwhelming support from local leaders and garnered over a thousand signatures from residents across Modesto who recognized the urgent need for these funds. It cannot be emphasized enough how dire the situation is for the residents of South Modesto. Over 85% of the residents in the targeted neighborhoods are Latino and low-income families who have long endured generational disinvestment and have seen little return on their contributions. This funding will be allocated to address critical infrastructure needs, including sidewalks, sewers, curbing, and lighting, in a coordinated effort.

The $5 million in one-time funding secured by Senator Alvarado-Gil will serve as a crucial stepping stone for Stanislaus County to begin rectifying decades of disinvestment in this disadvantaged community. The funds will improve the health, well-being, safety, and access to services for one of the most impoverished neighborhoods in the county.

Senator Alvarado-Gil expressed her sincere gratitude to Supervisor Channce Condit, local leaders, and the residents of South Modesto for their unwavering support in securing this funding. “The successful allocation of $5 million in infrastructure funding marks a significant milestone in the ongoing effort to address the longstanding disparities faced by the community,” stated Alvarado-Gil. “I remain committed to advocating for the needs of Senate District 4 and look forward to witnessing the positive impact these funds will have on the lives of South Modesto residents.”
