Senator Alvarado-Gil Stands For Constituents, Votes Against SBX1 2 and the Bureaucracy it Creates

Senator Alvarado-Gil, representing a primarily rural district where gas prices significantly impact household budgets and small business, put the interests of her constituents first and voted against SBx1 2. The bill, which was fast-tracked through the legislative process, would grant unyielding power to an unelected state commission to impose unprecedented regulatory actions.

As Alvarado-Gil explained “Today I voted no on SBx1 2. I did this because we don’t need more bureaucracy, we need less. Constituents in Senate District 4 are feeling the pain at the pump, as it further strains household budgets. This bill would not provide the relief that is needed, which is one of our district’s top concerns. As stated by both parties, SBx1 2 is unprecedented, and although the need is immediate, we must ensure that due diligence is followed to eliminate unintended consequences.  I urge thoughtful discussions across the aisle to find the right solution.”

Laurel Brent-Bumb, CEO of the El Dorado County Chamber of Commerce applauds the Senator’s decision stating “Congratulations Senator Alvarado-Gil. This is how government is supposed to work. Thank you for voting for the people.”

The Senator is making good on her campaign promise of voting for the needs of her constituents over partisanship. “I believe that this is the right choice based on the needs and concerns of the people I represent,” added Alvarado-Gil.
