April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and I am leading the charge with Senate Bill 268 – my bill will address a critical gap in the state’s criminal justice system by reclassifying the rape of an intoxicated person as a violent felony.

Every 68 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted, yet only 30% of these assaults are reported to law enforcement. Victims and survivors of sexual assault must receive equitable justice, while perpetrators should expect nothing less than being held fully accountable. No means no, period. Please join me in supporting SB 268. Listen to my iHeart radio interview here.

I invite Senate District 4 and every Californian to join me virtually for my press conference on Senate Bill 268 next Wednesday, April 24th, at 10 a.m. Hear from two survivors, state, and local leaders speak on how SB 268 will address the dangerous loophole that’s threatening Californians’ safety.

It’s time we lift up our survivors and give them a voice while holding the perpetrators of this despicable crime to the fullest extent of the law.

Tune into the press conference via livestream on April 24th at 10 a.m. here. (Note: the link will not populate until the day and time of the press conference.)

Read more about this crucial legislation in our press release here.

Wildfires have become an undeniable part of California’s landscape. Recently, my office attended a Home Hardening and Defensible Space presentation in Cool, addressing critical ways the community can participate in protecting their homes from wildfires. My office will be posting future opportunities for anyone in Senate District 4 who is interested in attending to learn best practices. For more information, please contact my El Dorado Hills Office: (916) 933-8684.
