The current law in California deems rape as a “violent felony” only when committed against a person’s will by means of force, violence, duress, menace, fear, or the threat of violent retaliation.




It’s probably fair to say California Sen. Marie Alvarado Gil could be the most unique person to ever occupy the District 4 seat.

For one, she is a Democrat and the first one to represent this sprawling district in decades.
